Salem City Council is beginning the process of filling an unexpired term on the Salem School Board. The current term of Rachel Thompson expires on December 31, 2026, and Council is seeking citizens who would be interested in serving the remainder of this period on the board.

Salem City Schools has approved the academic calendar for School Year 2024-2025. Follow this link to see the calendar.
As a part of the federal program, Virginia's Preschool Initiative (VPI), Salem City residents may apply for preschool-aged children. Children must be 4 years old by September 30, 2024. Other criteria do apply. Submit an application at www.smart2start.org. Select your student's home school as your preferred location; preschool is available at all four elementary schools. Initial program acceptance will be determined after the April 29th deadline. With questions, call Salem's Early Childhood Coordinator, Megan Crew at 540-444-0846.
