SALEM GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT GRADUATION

June 2009

Salem’s June graduation ceremony for GED candidates was held on Tuesday the 9th in School Board Chambers at the Central Office.

In all, 12 individuals earned their GED in this time period, and 10 were in attendance to pick up their certificates.  Assistant Superintendent Mike Bryant and School Social Worker, Elizabeth Arthur, were on hand to recognize the students along with their teachers, family members, friends and Salem School Division Superintendent, Alan Seibert, who commended the students for earning their GED.

Salem City School’s GED program is offered to students over 16 years of age, who are at least one year behind in academics and who receive permission from a panel of Salem School personnel.

Students in the GED program attend school 10 hours a week and maintain employment 20 hours per week.  We are very proud of these students and the hard work they put into making this achievement a reality.
