Salem Earns Region Berth
 
The Lady Spartans defeated Hidden Valley on Wednesday night 1-0 in the River Ridge Distrcit Tournament Semifinals, earning them a bid in the Regin IV tournament next week.  The game was tied at halftime, however, Harmon Hall took a shot from about 30 yards out five minutes into the second half and gave Salem the lead.  Salem goalkeeper Bre Kawa made 8 saves on the night as Salem advanced to the District Tournament Championship game this Friday night.  The Spartans will face Blacksburg High School, as the Bruins defeated Cave Spring in the earlier semifinal game Wednesday, 3-2 in overtime.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM, with the consolation game starting at 5:00 PM.

Salem and Titans Tie Again
 
Hidden Valley started the scoring in the first half on Tuesday night, but Salem answered back with two first half goals of their own.  Alex Paxton netted the first one, as Claire Sexton tallied the second goal.  Salem took the 2-1 lead into halftime, however, allowed a goal with 20 minutes remaining as the game ended 2-2.  Salem now stands at 11-1-3 overall and 5-1-3 in River Ridge District play.  With a win over Pulaski on Thursday, the Spartans will clinch second place in the district heading into the district tournament next week.  Thursday's game against Pulaski will be senior night, with game time scheduled for 7:00 PM!

 

 

Salem Defeats Christiansburg In Shortened Game
 
The Spartans defeated Christiansburg High School on Friday night 2-1.  The game was ended in the second half due to weather.  Salem held a 2-0 advantage at the half as Kim Elmore scored both goals off assists from Harmon Hall.  Salem held a 26-2 shot advantage on the night and will host Hidden Valley on Tuesday at 7:00.  The Lady Spartans are now 11-1-2 on the season and 5-1-2 in River Ridge District play.
 
 
 
Salem Loses First Game Of Season
 
Salem lost to Blacksburg 2-1 on Tuesday night.  The Spartans held a 1-0 lead until 16 minutes left in the match, as the Bruins netted two goals in the final 16 minutes to take the win.  Kim Elmore scored for Salem in the first half after receiving a pass from Susie Corey.  Salem goalkeeper, Bre Kawa made 8 saves on the night as teams each took 10 shots.  Salem faces Christiansburg High School on Friday night with game time scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Spartans Defeat Knights

The Lady Spartans picked up a win on Friday night over River Ridge District opponent Cave Spring.  The Spartans took a 4-0 lead into the half after Claire Sexton netted all four goals in the first half.  The Knights scored two goals of their own in the first 20 minutes of the second half, however, Salem answered back with 4 more goals as Alex Paxton (2), Kim Elmore, and Emily Caldwell added goals in the last 20 minutes of the game giving Salem the 8-2 victory.  Collecting assists on the night were Hannah Chauvin (2), Elmore, Harmon Hall, Sarah Collie, Jade Andrade, and Kaitlyn Ingvaldsen.
 
Salem is now 10-0-2 overall and 4-0-2 in River Ridge District play.  They will travel to Blacksburg on Tuesday night, game time is scheduled for 7PM.
