This class must be teacher approved. Students must have shown an ability to work on their own, to be self-organized and self-motivated. Higher-level techniques and projects will be included in an effort to master previously learned, and new techniques. This class is a one semester course for students who have had Ceramics 1 and Ceramics 2 and who want to continue to express themselves through this medium. In-depth work in wheel throwing, hand-building techniques and clay and glazing techniques will be stressed. Students will continue to create the third level of the powerpoint portfolio. Students will be asked to pay a $10 materials fee.
This is the “crème de la crème” of the ceramics classes. If you have reached this point you have gained teacher approval for taking this class. This means that you are virtually self sufficient, and trustworthy to pursue a more individualized agenda. Students are encouraged to create ceramic work that is individualistic. Students have identified their best skills and are encouraged to refine them and become more creative. Students must be self-motivated and able to organize themselves to keep on task to create the projects on their own time frame, but adhering to the 6 week sessions. Projects such as chip and dip bowls, casseroles, advanced teapots, cookie jars, clocks, and much more can be made in this class.
