Advanced Drawing is a one-semester studio-oriented course designed to provide students an opportunity to expand on experiences and processes previously learned in Art Foundations.  Students are encouraged to develop independent thinking, self-confidence, self-expression, and perceptual awareness in solving accelerated studio problems.  Areas of study include composition, sketching and shading techniques, perspective, figure drawing and portraits.  A variety of drawing media and the techniques needed to use them will be incorporated.
 
Beginning Painting is a one-semester course designed to introduce students to varied painting techniques and media. Students will be introduced to basic color theory and will have opportunities to work in watercolor and oil painting.  Students will be asked to furnish certain basic supplies.  The estimated cost of materials is $15.
 
Advanced Painting is a one-semester course presenting students with the opportunity to further express themselves through painting.  Students will work with watercolor and oil paints while studying and experimenting with various painting styles.

Advanced Painting
Students at work in Mr. Gibson’s Drawing & Mr. Wallace’s Painting class. Students are studying impressionists paintings and recreating each as a mini painting. Each subject is done in watercolor, or acrylic. Students use the paintings to work out value and color relationships.

Advanced drawing is an important focus in the art program. Students who can draw, will not be limited in their ability to create. Drawing is an essential part of what we do as an artists.
