CLASSROOM POLICIES: Attendance: In a foreign language course, it is imperative that students attend class on a regular basis. Oral work missed is difficult to make up. Punctuality is essential and materials must be brought to class each day. 3 tardies will result in after school detention time with me. Homework: Homework is assigned so that students have the opportunity for
extra practice and preparation when needed.
The student is expected to complete the work assigned before coming to
class. Come to class prepared! You
may not leave your class to go your locker to retrieve homework or
materials needed in class. Your homework must be organized and legible. The key to having a successful and enjoyable year is to keep up with the
work on a daily basis. Spanish
like Math is a building process.
Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday night
rarely on the
week-end. You may check my MOODLE web site o confirm or verify homework assignments. Make-up work: Is due according to SHS policy. Students are responsible for finding out the work that was missed during their absence. Failure to follow this rule will result in a zero for each assignment missed. Extended illness of 3+ days will be given special consideration. Test & Quizzes: Vocabulary quizzes should be expected daily.
At the end of each lesson there will be a quiz/test, which covers
vocabulary and grammar. There will also be a grade for oral presentation and
listening skills. Grading: The students grade will be based on
completion of assignments (homework/ class work), projects, quizzes, and tests.
Listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture will be evaluated.
Grades will be determined on total point basis.
I give out progress reports and final six weeks grades. Keep track of
your own grade if you want to know it more often than every three weeks. Notebook Check: Each six weeks you will receive a notebook check grade
Honor Code: Please obey the SHS Academic Honor Policy at all times. Behavior: My rules of behavior are simple. No one has the right to disrupt the learning of another person. By honoring this, we will work together as a group and enjoy one year together. Courteous and responsible behavior is to be observed at all times. Students must show respect for teacher, peers, and classroom property. It is school policy that no food or drink is allowed in the classroom unless it is a part of a cultural activity. No chewing gum during class. CLASSROOM PROCEDURES: You will be given a set of class procedures the first day of class. These procedures are to be followed and will be rehearsed in class. in writing. They will understand and interpret written and spoken language on a
variety of topics. They will present information, concepts and ideas to an
audience of listeners on a variety of topics. They will demonstrate an understanding of
the relationship between the practice, products, and perspectives of culture
studied. They will further their knowledge of other disciplines through the
foreign language. They will use their language study in furthering their
education and career goals.

Supplemental Resources: Workbook and Audio Activities Course Description: This course is designed for the serious language student who has excelled in Levels 1 and 2. It offers an in-depth study of grammar and vocabulary, which provides the means for student expression in spoken and writ ten form. Emphasis is placed on the students ability to respond to and communicate practical needs and opinions and to ex tract information from different texts. Daily class participation is expected. The course fulfills the requirement for the advanced studies diploma as well as preparing students for the next two levels of the International Baccalaureate course of study. Required materials:
