Conferences with Teachers and School Administration

Parents are encouraged to contact the school if you have questions and/or concerns about your children’s progress and performance in school. Telephone calls to teachers should be made either before or after school 7:40-7:50 a.m. or 2:25-3:00 p.m. Calls made to teachers during the day will be referred to them, and they will respond during a free time. Teachers will not be called out of class to talk to parents on the telephone. We also prefer that teachers not be telephoned at home.

Parents are encouraged to discuss problems with the involved school personnel prior to calling the school administration. It is often the case that major problems can be avoided if parents and teachers have the opportunity to discuss the concern initially. If this is not possible, feel free to contact Mr. Millard (387-2503) and he will set up a meeting with the involved personnel or seek a solution to the problem. The school maintains an “open door” policy for all West Salem parents – share the successes and concerns with us. As a result of your input, we will continue to build a stronger school.

Parent/teacher conference days have been scheduled by the City of Salem Schools. Parents are encouraged to make appointments with teachers on these important dates. Other conferences with teachers should be scheduled before or after school hours.
