Interruptions in the Classroom

The school staff attempts to keep interruptions in the classroom to a minimum. Among the things done to accomplish this goal are as follows:

  • Announcements on the intercom are only made during homeroom period and prior to dismissal at the end of the school day.
  • Visitors to the school are required to go to the school office before going to other parts of the building. This allows office personnel and the principal to take care of many requests that ordinarily might have caused unnecessary interruptions in classrooms.
  • Parents are requested to set up conferences in advance rather than “dropping in” on a teacher at a time when he/she is teaching a class.
  • Parents are asked to come to the office when bringing a child to school after homeroom has started and when picking up a child prior to dismissal of school. The school administration requests that parents do not go to the classrooms to drop off children or pick them up.
