Transferring to Another School

When parents move from our school area and find it necessary to transfer their children from West Salem School to another school, they should contact the office five days in advance. Your child’s records will be forwarded when requested by the principal of the new school.

Legislation enacted by the 1993 Virginia General Assembly resulted in the Code of Virginia (Article 5, 22.1-28.9) pertains to “Pupil Records.” Two major changes are as follows:

• The scholastic record of a student may be forwarded to another school or school division upon request and without consent of the student’s parent/guardian.

• Any school disciplinary action taken against a student for violating school board rules or policies on school property or at a school sponsored event must be included in the student’s scholastic record.
