Philosophy
The faculty and staff of West Salem Elementary School believe that we have both the opportunity and responsibility to provide a solid foundation for our students as they continue their education and mature as individuals. The school will attempt to help each child reach his full potential in all areas – mentally, emotionally, socially, culturally and physically. We strive to accept each student as he or she is and to provide a child-centered program that allows each student to reach acceptable and realistic goals. It is our aspiration that students will develop a love for learning that continues throughout their lives.
Successful development of each child is directly related to active involvement and cooperation of the family, community and school. The school requests the assistance and support of parents and the community to help each child become a responsible citizen and a contributing member of our democratic society. Development of self worth and respect for others are important concepts that need the cooperation of all concerned. The faculty and staff of West Salem Elementary School support this statement of philosophy and are committed to creating a friendly atmosphere conducive to achieving these goals and objectives.
