Data Collection Spreadsheets

Fifth Graders collected data from bags of M&Ms. They entered their data into a spreadsheet using MaxShow. They had been studying how to calculate mean, median, mode, and range in class. Using the spreadsheet, they learned how to use MaxShow (Excel was running in the background) to calculate sums, averages, medians, modes, maximums, minimums, and ranges. They also loved the magic of filling an entire row or column with a formula and letting the computer do the math for them.

Some of the students had a little extra time and added graphs to the spreadsheets. A sample of their completed projects can be viewed below.
