Salem City Schools Summer Manufacturing Programs

Program Details:

Partners: SparkForce, Alro Steel, Altec, Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board, Mersen, New Millennium, Universal Technical Institute/NASCAR Technical Institute, Virginia Western, and Wabtec.

Current 6th and 7th graders enrolled in the summer program will experience one week of welding and one week of technology education, alongside Math and English instruction.

Current 8th graders may sign up for either a one-week technology education camp or a one-week welding camp through the Salem City Schools website: salem.k12.va.us

Inclusion Camp

Program Details:

Partners: SparkForce, Alro Steel, Altec, Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board, Integer, Mersen, New Millennium, and Wabtec. SparkForce works with partner organizations, schools, social service agencies, manufacturers, and other employers to develop job readiness and skills training programs that serve young adults with special needs or disabilities.

Structure:

Two weeks of classroom training.

Two weeks of on-site job training.
