PowerSchool Data Breach

Earlier this week, PowerSchool, a global provider of education administration software, announced a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorized access to certain data in late December 2024. Unfortunately, we have been notified that data belonging to Salem City School Division students, families, and employees was part of this breach.

The breach was limited to PowerSchool’s internal systems and did not compromise the security of Salem City Schools’ networks. PowerSchool has indicated that the compromised data primarily includes contact information such as names and addresses. In some cases, personally identifiable information (PII), such as Social Security numbers or medical information, may have been affected.

PowerSchool is continuing to investigate the matter and has assured us they will directly notify any impacted individuals, providing details and offering identity protection services if needed.

At Salem City Schools, protecting the privacy of our community is a top priority. We are committed to supporting our students, families, and staff and will continue to hold PowerSchool accountable as we work through this situation.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. Further updates and resources will be shared as they become available.
